Peter Brogan
From early humble beginnings I always knew, that Art and Music was to play a huge part in my life, and sure enough, they both still do to this day. My Music career is still ongoing, writing and playing concerts throughout the country.
During 2020 when Covid restrictions came into force, all entertainment events were cancelled which left everyone in the music industry temporarily redundant.
It’s at this point I decided to concentrate fully on my other creative side, Art. I never stoped painting through the years of playing and making music I just had more time now to focus on what I’m really passionate about.
My work is mainly modern contemporary, with, from time to time, a hint of abstract influences. I paint in three mediums, Watercolour, Acrylic, and Oil, this allows me the freedom of choice. I often sketch out a quick watercolour of a subject as reference for an oil or Acrylic painting. Sometimes I use Acrylic for sketching out and blocking in before painting the subject in oil, so I’m using all three mediums most of the time.
Landscape/Seascape painter is probably where I’m most comfortable at, the two subjects have so much to offer for an Artist. As the seasons change, light changes, colour changes, I try to depict some of these influences in my paintings in the hope of adding intrigue and atmosphere.
I do take commissions for both landscape/seascape or portrait work, so if you have a special place or face you would like painting, please get in touch with your ideas. If you live local to South Yorkshire my studio is open most days, you’ll be more than welcome to pop in for a chat.
